Arsenal fans take to Twitter to slate wasteful Alex Iwobi - Arsenal

For the majority of the Gunners’ games, Alex Iwobi is a quality player, but as soon as you give the Nigerian a chance to score or have an impact in front of goal he goes to mush. We saw that again yesterday too as the winger had a great chance to score against Leicester having been fed in down the left, but saw his tame effort blocked by Kasper Schmeichel.

The Nigerian winger was two-on-two against the Leicester defence with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and with the Gabonese frontman feeding him in down the left the Gunners lost a lot of faith in a goal coming. Seeing Iwobi in front of goal is bad enough, but when he’s on his weaker left-side it becomes even worse, and the outcome of the chance is pretty easy to guess.

Arsenal fans were not surprised to see Iwobi spurn the opening, and just minutes later Ainsley Maitland-Niles received his second yellow card that turned the game on its head. That loss makes it three in a row for the Arsenal fans, but it could have been so different had Iwobi been able to open the scoring and put his side in front before they fell to ten men and the awful 3-0 defeat.

You can read the Gunners’ verdict on Iwobi’s miss here:

The Gunners cannot stand seeing Iwobi missing chance after chance and will be desperate to see him replaced in their starting eleven for a more reliable goalscoring winger.
