Arsenal supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern are disappointed with the latest reports from the Daily Mirror.
These reports claim that the Gunners are ready to pull out of the race to sign Real Madrid’s Sami Khedira.
The German international midfielder is reportedly available this summer and caught the eye of many top clubs after some outstanding performances for the newly crowned World champions in Brazil.
Arsene Wenger had hoped to complete a £23.5 million deal for the 27-year-old, but looks set to end his interest after the German revealed he wants his staggering £150,000-a-week wages matched.
That would see him become Arsenal’s highest paid player, ahead of the likes of Mesut Ozil and new signing Alexis Sanchez.
Khedira still looks set to leave the Bernabeu this summer, having rejected the offer of a new contract with just one year remaining on his current deal.
Chelsea have also been linked with a move for the defensive midfielder.
Arsenal meanwhile, look set to turn their attentions to Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender or Southampton’s French international Morgan Schneiderlin.
Arsenal fans. Are the club right to refuse to meet Khedira’s wage demands? Or would you be happy to pay the money for a proven world class midfielder? Let us know your thoughts below.
