Arsenal fans were fuming with Unai Emery and the players after they went into half-time 2-1 down in the Europa League tie against Vitoria.

Is Unai Emery the right man for Arsenal?

No

No

The Gunners conceded an early goal as former Tottenham Hotspur academy player Marcus Edwards scored from inside the penalty box.

Unai Emery’s men did respond through a Gabriel Martinelli header after a superb cross from the left-flank from Kieran Tierney.

However, the Gunners decided that conceding one goal wasn’t enough as they went and gave away a second. Ainsley Maitland-Niles gave the ball away around the half-way line with the Liga Nos side countering and scoring a second through Bruno Duarte.

Even more shocking than the lack of quality in defence and midfield, was the lack of chances being created at the other end. In the opening period, the only shot on target proved to be Martinelli’s goal as the Gunners came up against a stern and organised Vitoria defence (via WhoScored).

Fans took to Twitter in anger that Arsenal were losing at half-time. Here is a selection of tweets from Gooners:
