That’s because BBC Sport have confirmed that Premier League side Arsenal have finally completed the signing of David Ospina from French Ligue 1 outfit Nice.
Arsene Wenger was in the market for a goalkeeper after Lukasz Fabianski joined rivals Swansea City on a Bosman transfer.
It now seems that Wenger has opted to pounce for 25-year-old Ligue 1 star Ospina who shone for Colombia in the World Cup this summer.
Ospina has spent almost six seasons playing for Nice since he joined in the summer of 2008 as a replacement for now Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
In that time he has made more than 200 appearances and earned stellar reviews in the process.
Arsène Wenger told Arsenal’s official website: “David Ospina is an excellent goalkeeper, with good experience and a proven record of performing with Nice and Colombia
“He will add strength to our squad and we are very pleased that he will be joining us.”
Wenger will now turn his attentions to signing another midfielder with German star Sami Khedira on his wish list as well as Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneirderlin.
Arsenal fans. It is unlikely that Ospina will be happy to play second fiddle at the club, so can he earn the number one jersey this season? Let us know your thoughts below.
