Metro have a sensational claim for us here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they think that Arsenal are firmly in the hunt for young German star Matthias Ginter of Freiburg.
The midfielder or defender has been on the radar of Arsene Wenger for some time now and finally the Frenchman is making good on his word and is considering a move for the 19-year-old.
Should Wenger make a bid for the starlet he would have to cough up at least £6 million and offer a decent wage and incentives packet to Ginter to boot.
Should this move, like so many of his others, fall through, the other option for the Gunners would be a move for Manchester City’s Gareth Barry who only has a year left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium and is facing an uncertain future.
Arsenal are of course worrying about the transfer of Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain which seems to be taking a very long time and have even made a bid for Liverpool forward Luis Suarez in the meantime, either to genuinely land the forward or to give Real Madrid a bump over their stalling on the deal over the Argentine forward.
Will Arsenal land this lesser known talent this summer? Should they be concentrating on ready-made pros? Let us know your thoughts below.
