The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to their side’s clash with Liverpool this evening. The atmosphere in the pub is already building, and it’s fair to say that much of the noise is coming from our resident Gunners.
That noise is only going to get louder now, too, owing to a recent injury update courtesy of fitness expert Ben Dinnery. Dinnery has confirmed over on Twitter that midfielder Francis Coquelin is fit and back in training with the Gunners ahead of the game.

Coquelin, of course, was forced out of action against West Ham in the Carabao Cup, but as Dinnery notes, the reasoning behind that decision was fatigue. Arsenal still managed to beat the Hammers and progress into the last four of the competition, and so Coquelin’s departure didn’t affect proceedings too much.
Whilst the Frenchman was never likely to start this game, and his late return to training is likely to make the chances of that happening reduce further, he does provide quality depth for Arsene Wenger.
Particularly against a strong attacking outfit like Liverpool, it wouldn’t be farfetched for Wenger to look to introduce Coquelin if he’s looking to hold on to a lead, and so the manager will be pleased that he can call on his midfielder once more.
Coquelin is a decent player, even if he’s not a fan favourite amongst our resident Gunners.
He’s a solid option in the midfield, and if Wenger is looking for raw power and aggression in there against the Reds, he’d be a decent choice.
