Arsenal forward target reveals January transfer rejection

NolitoArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have been left wondering what might have been- and the latest reports have really riled them up, halting their competitive match of snooker.

Radio Marca state that Arsenal target Nolito, who was also chased by Barcelona in January, rejected a move to the Premier League in order to stay with Celta Vigo.

The Spanish international has been in scintillating form for Celta Vigo this season, helping them contend for a spot in European football, and at one stage the La Liga minnows were sitting pretty at the top of the standings.

Naturally, his form attracted Europe’s big guns and Nolito revealed there was a wealth of interest in his services, which he turned down.

‘In December I had offers from England, China, Russia, Dubai but I’m happy at Celta and I want to play at the Euros. The Celta president told me that he wouldn’t sell me. I said to him that’s just fine by me.’

With Nolito vying for a spot in Spain’s European Championship squad, staying put at Celta was definitely the best option, according to our landlord, although he feels a transfer could happen in the summer.
