Arsenal fans are rolling their eyes here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they hear the latest gossip coming from Metro who seem to think forward Olivier Giroud has been told to act more like Chelsea star Diego Costa.
Now, while the fans would be happy to see the Frenchman – who had a nightmare against Monaco – score more goals, they are not too sure stamping his way around the field is the way forward.
Giroud claimed: ‘They want me to have a ‘killer’ attitude, almost insensitive. Diego Costa shows no emotion. I am more emotional. I have therefore learned to control my emotions. I try to be less demonstrative.’
We think that Diego Costa is far from unemotional on the pitch – but there is no denying that the Blues forward certainly looks like he would die to score a goal, unlike Giroud who seems to be more interested in selfies and his hair.
As one of our punters over by the pool table notes , acting like Didier Drogba would have been far easier for the Arsenal forward given all he’d have to do would be to put the ball into the back of his own net!
The Frenchman also rather hilariously channelled his inner Nicklas Bendtner and questioned why people thought the club needed a ‘world class forward’ and wondered why they did not think neither he or partner Danny Welbeck fit into that category stating: ‘it is like saying, we are not world-class attackers,’ and as our landlord quips, the reason for that is simply because we watch them on a weekly basis.
