Arsenal fringe player opens up about interest from Everton and West Ham

The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are still in the dark over the future of Olivier Giroud.

Olivier Giroud was the subject of widespread interest in the summer transfer window after the Gunners snapped up Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon in a club record deal.

The likes of Marseille, Everton and West Ham were all keen on the Frenchman, who might have considered a move to retain his place in the French national squad to compete with the likes of rival forwards Antoine Griezmann, Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe.

But, according to a report by The Telegraph, Olivier Giroud has insisted that he does not regret his decision to stay at Arsenal this summer.

Giroud said: “I am not questioning myself about my future.

“I am happy at Arsenal and I am fine with the decision to stay because I want to.

“I am thinking that the story between the club and myself was not over and not finished.

“We will see what happens but I am happy at Arsenal for the moment.”

With the long term future of Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez in doubt, Giroud may be handed more chances in the future.

But for now, it is clear that Arsene Wenger sees the 31-year-old as an impact substitute.
