Cela Vigo’s 28-year-old forward Nolito emerged top of Arsenal’s wish-list but Arsene Wenger’s since faced a fight with Barcelona for his signature. However, it’s now emerged that the Spanish giants cannot afford to complete the transfer.
Strict financial rules in place at Barcelona will not allow them to activate Nolito’s release clause, leaving Arsenal as firm favourites to secure the Spanish international in January.
Barcelona need to finance any incoming deals by completing outgoing moves, with full-backs Adriano and Douglas looking likely to be shipped-out, but the situation means the Catalan outfit will not be able to finance a move.
The Mirror state Arsenal were first alerted to Nolito’s talents by Iberian scout Francis Cagigao, whilst the player was at Benfica, but at Celta Vigo the player has gone from strength-to-strength.
Arsenal fans in the Tavern are quick to point-out only Karim Benzema has scored more La Liga goals than Nolito this season, whilst he also leads the charts for assists and chance creation.
