It’s July and Arsenal are yet to sign anyone.

Whilst Manchester United spend a reported £50 million on Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka per BBC Sport and Tottenham edge ever closer to a club-record signing for Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele via the Guardian, Arsenal seemingly continue to mull over deals for the likes of Kieran Tierney (BBC Sport) and William Saliba (ESPN), and now another name has entered the mix for the Gunners.

According to Defensa Central, Unai Emery is willing to spend up to €30 million (£26.88 million) on Real Madrid playmaker Lucas Vazquez, who is one of the many players at the La Liga giants who could leave this summer as the Spanish side aim to rebuild their own squad this summer.

Of course, with only a reported budget of £40 million to spend according to Football.London, a deal of this size would take out a significant chunk of funds for Arsenal to use on other areas of the pitch that need improvement, namely the defence after conceding the second highest amount of goals out of any side in the top-six, and in Vazquez, the dots just don't connect.

Indeed, Charlie Nicholas told Sky (via the Express) last month that he's desperate for defensive reinforcements to arrive, after all.

Although the Spanish international has been a mainstay in the Madrid squad for the good part of four seasons and scoring just 21 goals and assisting 44 in that time, though he did win the Champions League three times.

With funds reportedly limited, Arsenal need to be making signings that the club are 100% sure will benefit the club in both the short and long-term, and based on Vazquez’s record for one of the best clubs in world football, it simply isn’t good enough for what the north London side need.

Arsenal fans, would you take Vazquez this summer? Let us know!
