Arsenal are thought to have had a bid for one of their long-term targets rejected last summer, according to claims in Italy.
Calciomercato are reporting that Sami Khedira was the subject of an offer from the Gunners, however, Juventus rejected their proposal, along with one from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Germany international has since signed a new contract with the Old Lady, but there are now doubts about his future in Turin.
It is claimed the possible departure of Max Allegri could mean the 31-year-old may also have to find a new club, whilst Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey will join up with the Serie A outfit in the summer on a free transfer.
The Premier League outfit are thought to have been interested in the £13.5million-rated star, per Transfermarkt, for a period of time, with claims that he nearly joined them in 2014 from Real Madrid, per Sky Sports.
However, there is no suggestion that they could make a move for him in the summer if he does become available.
There will be some questions about whether Khedira is the type of player the Gunners still need this summer should he become available.
With the likes of Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi playing starring roles in Unai Emery’s side, that position looks as strong as it possibly can be at the moment.
Although the German could be an excellent addition to the squad at the Emirates Stadium, the club surely have other areas on the pitch that are a priority.
