Things seem to be going along nicely at Arsenal at the moment, their fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern haven’t stopped grinning since the announcement of Alexandre Lacazette and the Frenchman even scored in their first game of pre-season.
However, while their new man seems to be living up to his billing thus far, there is plenty to sort out regarding his compatriot Olivier Giroud.
The Gunners striker has been linked with a move away this summer with a host of top clubs interested in the 30-year-old who, regardless of his form off the bench last season could not force his way into Arsene Wenger’s starting XI on a regular basis.
The Gunners boss, however, has continually emphasised just how highly he regards the striker and how vital he is to his plans going forward, and with that in mind there is some good news for Wenger.
According to Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol, London rivals West Ham have pulled out of a move for Giroud, having been told that the London Stadium would not be his first choice should he move.
While that by no means ends the possibility of a move elsewhere, our landlord has told the resident Gooners it should be treated as a boost, given that he is happy enough in north London to be turning down approaches.
