Chelsea fans are looking satisfied here in the Football Transfer Tavern as Metro report that the Blues will be keeping Petr Cech this January and will not be selling him to London rivals Arsenal.
As one of our punters notes, a Gunners transfer had been heavily mooted but we think that the chances of Jose Mourinho selling someone who he sees as a world class player and one who would certainly improve his rivals is remote.
Mourinho has claimed that he will not be selling or buying this winter despite the Blues being linked with the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus.
Coupled with the fact that Cech’s agent has also claimed that he cannot see the goalie moving anywhere for the foreseeable future, it looks like Arsene Wenger might have to look elsewhere for goalkeeping reinforcements.
That said, we doubt the Frenchman will be able to source a bargain like the £7 million fee that is currently being attributed to Chelsea stopper Cech.
Chelsea fans. Is keeping Cech something you should make a top priority this winter? How important is it not to sell to a ‘rival’ side? Let us know your thoughts below.
