The Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate for news of any movement in north London in terms of some more additions ahead of the new season.
Manager Arsene Wenger has a lot of work to do before the Premier League returns if he is to build a side capable of making a mark on the title race once more.
With that in mind, though, the Gunners boss has been handed a boost in his quest to add some mettle to his midfield. According to Guardian journalist Ed Aarons, the FA Cup winners are still interested in a deal for combative Nice midfielder Jean Michael-Seri and have been handed the initiative after Italian side Roma shied away from his €40m release clause.
The £11.9m-rated midfielder played a key roll as Nice surprised many with a third place finish in Ligue 1 last season and could be an ideal addition at The Emirates.
Our landlord reckons a move for the 25-year-old could get Wenger halfway to deciding his first-choice centre midfield pairing, something with which he struggled last term.
Arsenal fans, we want to hear from you! What do you make of Seri? Do you think Wenger will match the release clause? Let us know…
