It has been a terrible weekend for Arsenal fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern yet the The Express has some really good news that might well cheer them up.
The Gunners may have been battered once again by a top four side, and it was the 1000th game of Arsene Wenger’s tenure that he’ll want to forget, but the club are moving closer to landing Julian Draxler.
The Schalke star has been incessantly linked to Arsenal and a move in the January transfer window fell through after Wenger baulked at the £37 million price tag.
Now however, the long serving Gunners manager knows that money simply has to be sent in the summer, and he wants to spend it on Draxler.
Bayern Munich had been looking to spoil the party, but as our landlord pauses from pouring a pint, he tells us that the Bundesliga giants have pulled out of the race for the German starlet, thus paving the way for Wenger to pounce.
Despite the Bundesliga giants pulling out of the race for Draxler, our punters make the point that he is highly coveted and has been linked with a host of other top sides, meaning that a bidding war is still potentially on the cards.
Is Draxler destined to become a Gooner at some point in the future? Let us know your thoughts below.
