Arsenal fans are looking rather unimpressed here in the Football Transfer Tavern, as Metro have claimed that the club have a massive amount of money left over to spend on transfers.
As we all know, Arsene Wenger is slightly reluctant to spend money at the best of times.
Despite the massive amount of money they spent on Mesut Ozil in the summer, this winter, the manager refused to pay the asking price for Schalke’s Julian Draxler and instead bought a crock in on loan.
The club reportedly have over £120 million to spend – and this is not even including their £22 million kitty to cover any unforeseen issues or debts that the club may incur.
Now it seems that the players Wenger has been linked with should be on their way in the summer – as money is no object. That, as our landlord notes, does not mean the Frenchman is willing to spend it!
Targets such as Robin van Persie and Mario Balotelli have all been mentioned, and not only will they come at a price, but they will also come with rather a lot of baggage – and we are wondering if Wenger and his well oiled machine of a club really want this.
Do you believe Wenger is capable of splashing up to £100 million in one single summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
