Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern didn’t expect to recieve good news courtesy of Bayern Munich, just hours before their Champions League encounter against the reigning European champions.
However a report from talkSPORT has landed on the bar that suggests the Bavarian giants have dismissed any interest in Schalke’s Jualian Draxler, leaving the way clear for Arsenal to land their long-term target in the summer.
Recent speculation in the bar had indicated that one of the reason’s why the 20-year-old German international remained with his current club was due to a deal being agreed that would see him joining Pep Guardiola’s side in the summer.
However this has been rejected by Karl-Heinz Rumminegge, who said: “Such rumours are ridiculous, absolutely nonsense.”
“Every day a news item comes out and I can only laugh about it. We also talked about it with Schalke, and we agree on this. I just can’t explain how these rumours come out. Maybe somebody doesn’t sleep well at night.”
Draxler has a £37 million release clause but Arsenal hope to pay significantly less to land the attacking midfielder at the end of the season as Wenger plots to turn him into a out-and-out centre forward.
Will Arsenal eventually get their hands on a high profile German international for the second summer running? Let us know your thoughts below.
