There is certainly drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it is claimed by the Daily Mail that Arsenal could well face a fight to land Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain this summer.
The saga of the summer looks like taking another turn this week as it has now been noted by the Spanish press and Marca more specifically that Real Madrid are holding out for £23 million for their forward – whilst Arsenal are offering slightly less for the Argentine.
One time we thought that Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic was the forward Wenger wanted the most but now it seems that Pipita is the one for the Frenchman and he is certainly taking his time to land him.
The initial hold up for the deal was thought to centre around the lack of a manager at Los Blancos yet with Carlo Ancelotti installed and willing to see the forward leave, there are puzzled faces here in the tavern as one of our punters quips – why has the deal not been formalized yet?
Wenger also has a host of other targets to focus on this summer and the club remain to be closely linked with QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar amongst others.
