We almost called for an early closing time in the Transfer Tavern this morning, after one over-excited punter claimed Arsenal are hoping to secure Pep Guardiola AND Robert Lewandowski from Bayern Munich next summer.
The Daily Mail declares Arsenal were unsurprisingly unsuccessful with a ‘discreet’ move for Polish international Lewandowski, who caused many spilt pints on Tuesday evening with a five-goal haul in nine minutes against Wolfsburg.
Whilst Arsenal fans dream of a forward of Lewandowski’s calibre, it’s claimed they have a chance of securing his signature at the end of the season if they manage to get Pep Guardiola in as the next gaffer at the Emirates.
This is because Guardiola is a huge fan of the Polish forward, whilst the Bayern board aren’t too fussed – though we expect that has changed after his heroics last time out.
Such a deal would cap-off a sensational double swoop for Arsenal and would make-up for a unimpressive transfer window this summer, where the Gunners were the only side in Europe’s top-five leagues not to sign a senior outfield player.
Do you believe such a sensational series of events could take place? Arsenal fans…. How happy would this make you?
