Jack Wilshere’s move to Bournemouth on Deadline Day sent shockwaves throughout the Transfer Tavern, with many of the Gunners propping up the bar lost for words.
For a pretty big name in English football, the 24-year-old is a truly divisive figure in North London.
So, reports from the Sun have sparked debate amongst the Emirates faithful once again.
They claim the England international has ALREADY held talks with Arsene Wenger over a new contract with his boyhood charges.
Having progressed through their academy, his progress has been stalled by a spate of ailments which have limited him to just 105 appearances.
Currently out of contract next summer, positive talks are said to have taken place between he and Le Prof about extending that by a further three years.
“Jack left because he wanted to get more first-team football to get his England spot back”, said an Arsenal source.
“He loves Arsenal and wants to remain and the club and the chats he has had with the club have been very positive on both sides.
“Jack is desperate to stay and prove himself to everyone what a top-class player he is. The experience about Bournemouth should serve him well.”
After moving to the South Coast for a year at least, Wilshere has a great opportunity to help realise his potential at long last under Eddie Howe’s stewardship.
The style of football in play at the Vitality Stadium could well work in his favour as he looks to make his way back into the England setup.
