Arsenal ‘hold talks’ to sign 22-goal striker in £5.5m deal

Kostas Mitroglou Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have made it known throughout the season that they’re desperate for a quality striker to make the move to north London, although they’re not convinced this target is the right man for the job.

Portuguese outlet Record state Arsenal have opened negotiations with Championship outfit Fulham regarding the signature of Premier League flop Kostas Mitroglou, who has rekindled his form on-loan with Benfica.

Mitroglou struggled to make an impression in England with Fulham and could not save the club from relegation but he’s enjoyed vast success with Benfica, scoring 22 goals in 40 appearances to push the side towards the Portuguese league title.

Benfica possess first-refusal on Mitroglou but Arsenal are ready to rival the European side in the market for the signature of the 28-year-old, despite the fact he failed to net a goal in the league for Fulham and made just three appearances.

However, our landlord has pointed out that despite Fulham being a black mark on his career, Mitroglou scored 16 goals in league 19 appearances on-loan with Olympiacos last season and found the net 41 times in 92 appearances during his first spell with the Greek giants.

Arsenal fans, would Mitroglou be a first-team starter or a squad player? Let us know in the comments below!
