It feels like a bit like Christmas Eve in the Football Transfer Tavern this evening as the last minute preparations are put in place for transfer deadline day.
The 72-inch plasma screen has even been dusted off as punters prepare to watch all of the last gasp transfer action.
With a host of huge transfers expected to be completed before the deadline, it could prove to be another dramatic day full of wide speculation, helicopters, players seen in airports and, of course, Jim White trying not to explode.
One club that could be busy tomorrow are Arsenal with speculation building about possible late activity at the Emirates Stadium.
While we send down one of our drunk punters to join the Sky Sports reporters at the Emirates Stadium, The Telegraph report that the Gunners are now closing in on a double deal for Schalke’s Julian Draxler and Barcelona’s Cristian Tello.
Draxler comes as no surprise to the Arsenal supporters in the bar with intense speculation about the Gunners holding negotiations with the German club for the 20-year-old attacking midfielder.
However the thought of taking Tello on loan for the rest of the season has caused quite a stir. The 22-year-old is understood to be a long-term target for Arsene Wenger, but he could now be ready to formalise his interest after losing Aaron Ramsey to injury.
Tello would certainly offer Wenger’s side further attacking options especially after Theo Walcott was ruled out for the rest of the season, with the Spanish youngster regarded very highly in his native country.
It’s now a race against time as the a Gunners desperately try to get the transfers completed before tomorrow’s deadline.
