Arsenal fans seem more upbeat in the Football Transfer Tavern today since their midweek defeat to Borussia Dortmund because they are tipped to snap up former Premier League and Real Madrid defensive midfielder on a free transfer.
According to The Express, Lassana Diarra is thought to be pushing for a return to the Premier League after the Frenchman left Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow.
The 29-year-old is believed to have attracted attention from Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who managed him during the 2007/08 season after moving from Chelsea, especially after being outran in midfield by Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.
Arsenal’s midfield has received a magnificent amount of criticism over the years for lacking ‘steel’ and on Tuesday night Mikel Arteta was next to be blamed after a lacklustre performance and to add to Wenger’s midfield headache, Jack Wilshere also picked up an ankle injury during the clash.
On deadline day of this summer’s transfer window, Lassana Diarra was close to completing a move to QPR but the transfer failed to materialise after there was an issue between the player and Lokomotiv.
Arsenal fans. It may be desperate but does a move for free agent Diarra make total sense with Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini flattering to deceive so far this season? Let us know your thoughts below.
