Jamie Sanderson from Metro has arrived in the Football Transfer Tavern with some intriguing transfer speculation for the Arsenal supporters in the bar.
He claims that Arsene Wenger is targeting a summer move for Marseille goalkeeper Steve Mandanda as he looks to bring in a new number two to challenge first choice Wojciech Szczesny.
Sanderson explains that Wenger is seeking a new goalie at the end of the season with both Lukasz Fabianski and current loanee Emiliano Viviano leaving in the summer.
While Wenger is happy with the development of Szczesny, he wants to add competition with an established reserve, and Mandanda, who has experience with the France national team, fits the bill.
The 28-year-old recently revealed that he is looking for a fresh start in the summer, and he could end up in the Premier League with the Gunners reportedly interested.
Sanderson is able to answer a few questions from the punters with the journalist claiming that Mandanda will be available for around £6 million.
The tall keeper has lately been impressing with the Ligue 1 outfit and is expected to be included in the French national team for the upcoming World Cup, although he will be the second choice to Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris.
