Arsenal identify Serbian international as defensive solution

Arsene Wenger knows how to finish fourth

Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are still trying to work out why their club didn’t try to re-sign Cesc Fabregas.

Instead it looks as though the former Gunner will be controversially plying his trade in West London with Chelsea next season.

But it’s not all doom and gloom for Arsenal fans as according to the Daily Express, Arsene Wenger is interested in free agent Nemanja Pejcinovic.

The 26-year-old Serbian international established himself as one of Ligue 1’s most reliable centre backs during his time at Nice and is now on the lookout for Champions League football.

Fellow French side Monaco, as well as other top European sides, are interested in signing the Serbian but Wenger feels his side have enough to offer him what he wants.

Question mark still lie over the future of Thomas Vermaelen in North London and the 6 ft 1 in Serbian is seen as the perfect understudy for first choice defensive duo Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.

Arsenal fans. Do you think Vermaelen will remain at the Emirates? Surely another centre back option would be a good thing anyway? Let us know your thoughts below.
