Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have endured a difficult few months on the football front, with a series of poor results across all competitions leading to a premature end for a season that promised so much.
With the punters by the bar growing increasingly frustrated with manager Arsene Wenger, they’re pleased to see that the board shares similar concerns and the club are looking for replacements this summer.
According to Metro, who cite an ESPN journalist, Arsenal have narrowed down their managerial shortlist to two names- Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone and Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who will leave the Citizens this summer.
The two South American bosses have an incredible pedigree in European football, with Pellegrini having enjoyed a successful few years with Manchester City whilst Simeone has made Atletico into a powerhouse within Spanish football and on the continent.
Pellegrini would likely be the safer option, whilst Simeone’s no-nonsense approach may appeal to Arsenal supporters as it would be a stark contrast to Wenger himself.
Our landlord believes both names would be suitable of bringing Arsenal esteemed success and he’s keen to see how these stories develop.
Arsenal fans, who would you choose out of Simeone and Pellegrini? Let us know in the comments below!
