Arsenal in pole position to secure January deal for £9.8m attacker

wenger44Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have head their ears perk-up after hearing reports of an incoming signing set for January.

Metro claim that Genoa’s financial woes have left Arsenal in pole position to sign Argentine forward Diego Perotti, who has an asking price of just £9.8m.

The 27-year-old has caught the eye with his Serie A performances so far this term and would prove to be a valuable addition for Arsene Wenger’s squad, as his versatility would hand a major boost to Arsenal’s Premier League title chances.

However, CalcioMercato suggests that Serie A leaders Inter Milan will rival the Gunners to take advantage of Genoa’s financial difficulties and secure a deal for Perotti.

Roberto Mancini’s side are currently locked in a fierce battle with Napoli for the Serie A crown, with defending champions Juventus faltering, and the addition of Perotti would hand a major boost to their title chances.

The same can be said for Arsenal though, who need to improve their squad depth after the latest injury problems that plagued the club- with the wing areas being a cause for concern currently.
