Arsenal fans were left shocked over the weekend in the Transfer Tavern as Arsene Wenger continued to push for early deals in the transfer market- and there’s now even more suggestion of work towards big deals underway.
The Sun states Arsenal are in talks to sign Riyad Mahrez from Premier League winners Leicester City, as they edge closer to a deal for his team-mate Jamie Vardy, who will give a final decision on his proposed transfer today.
Mahrez and Vardy were the finest duo in the league last season, propelling Leicester to shock title triumph, but Arsenal are prepared to match the release clause for both players and have been left shocked by how low a deal for Mahrez would be.
Arsenal have already splashed £30m in the summer window to secure Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach and, if they are to land Vardy this week, it would take their spending to beyond the £50m mark before the window has even officially opened.
