Arsenal fans will be expecting the club to overcome their two-goal disadvantage over Rennes on Thursday after witnessing their solid home performance against Manchester United at the weekend.
They will also be demanding that the club backs Unai Emery in the transfer window in the summer and it appears they could be about to try and bring one of South America’s hottest players to the Premier League next season.
What’s the News?
According to a report by UoL in Brazil, Arsenal sent Everton Gushiken, who is a scout for the club, to watch Gabriel Martinelli in action for Ituano.
The media outlet have claimed the interest in the teenager is concrete and that there have been talks regarding a possible move for the attacker, with a fee of €8million being discussed.
Martinelli appears to have been attracting plenty of interest recently and the news that Arsenal’s is concrete could be promising for the Gunners.
The news that one of their scouts was keeping tabs on him recently would appear to back up the interest in a player who has had trials at both Barcelona and Manchester United in the past.
And, he could be an exciting addition at the Emirates Stadium if they manage to bring him to the Premier League.
The Brazilian, who is in the process of obtaining an Italian passport, has been in excellent form for Ituano this season, having bagged himself four goals and three assists in the top-flight. That goalscoring pedigree was on show during his youth when he was at Corinthians, as he managed to score 73 times in 139 games.
Definitely one for the future, but if Martinelli was able to reach the heights many feel that he has the potential to do, then a figure of €8m could be a bargain deal for Arsenal.
Arsenal fans, what do you make of the possibility of bringing Martinelli to the club in the future? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts below.
