Arsenal interested in Fiorentina’s Jordan Veretout

Unai Emery and Arsenal will know that they will have a battle on their hands to replace Aaron Ramsey in the summer. The Wales international may have turned out to be one of the Gunners’ best players this season with his contributions for the club.

A number of names are likely to be linked until a replacement is found, however, one name has been mentioned that could seriously make the club forget about Ramsey rather quickly.

What’s the News?

According to Le Foot (via Sport Witness), Arsenal are interested in signing Jordan Veretout.

However, Fiorentina are believed to want between €25million-€30million (£21.5m-£25.8m) before they consider opening negotiations for him.

The Verdict:

Veretout has been excellent for Fiorentina this season and there is evidence that the former Aston Villa man could replace Ramsey rather well in the middle of the Arsenal midfield.

The France international has shown that he has the creativity and eye for goal that the outgoing Welshman has to offer, having matched his goal tally with five this season and has also managed to provide his team-mates with three assists in his 27 Serie A appearances.

The 26-year-old has the versatility to be able to play in any position in the middle of the park, whether that be in a more defensive area or in the final third of the pitch, which would provide Emery with some rather attractive options going forward.

Vertout is also dangerous from set-pieces, as he has an excellent ability to make something happen from dead-ball situations, whilst he has the tenacity and intensity that Arsenal could benefit from in front of the defence.

Although it is believed that he will come at a cost between £21.5m-£25.8m, it should definitely be a price that the Gunners look to pay for him.

Arsenal fans, do you think Veretout could be the ideal replacement for Ramsey? Would you pay the price being suggested for the France international? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
