Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are glad to see one of their prized young assets making a mature move this summer, with a loan move away from the club on the cards.
The Daily Mail states young Arsenal defender Calum Chambers is close to agreeing a move to fellow Premier League outfit Watford, with it proposed that the England international spends the 2016/17 season on-loan with the Hornets.
Arsenal paid Southampton £16m for the defender two-years ago and Chambers has impressed during that time, although he has struggled to force his way into the first-team on a regular basis, and Arsene Wenger will not give up on his talents.
Chambers’ lack of opportunities has decreased his morale and confidence, which makes Arsenal certain that a spell away with more regular opportunities would be the perfect move- and a transfer to Watford would mean the Gunners can keep close tabs on his performances, as the duo’s training grounds are next door to one another.
Our landlord believes this is the right move for the youngster and that Watford could help him mature, as he points to the developments of Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere, who both left the club on-loan during the early stages of their career, as evidence of the benefits of such a move.
