Arsenal join the race for Hector Herrera

Arsenal have become the latest team to have taken an interest in one of Porto’s wantaway stars.

According to a report by Correio de Manha, Hector Herrera is being coveted by the Gunners after rejecting three new contracts from the Dragons.

The Mexico international is said to feel that it is the right time to move on from the Portuguese giants and knows that he has a number of potential suitors that he could join.

The 28-year-old is thought to have been on the radar of Barcelona, Real Madrid and AS Roma as well as the Gunners, whilst Porto are known to have rejected several bids in the past for him.

However, that could change in January as they could look to cash in on him, rather than lose him for nothing and Unai Emery’s side could be ready to step in.

The Verdict:

Herrera could be an excellent addition for Arsenal and would help to bolster their midfield ranks immediately.

Emery brought in Lucas Torreira in the summer, however, with the future of Aaron Ramsey being plunged further into doubt, there could be a huge void the Spaniard needs to fill.

The Porto captain, who is valued at £18million by Transfermarkt, looks likely to leave the club in the summer, so Arsenal could land a player on a bargain deal, should they play their cards right.
