Arsenal keen on impressive 23-year-old defender

Despite signing Shkodran Mustafi in the summer, the Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern would still like their defence to see an upgrade…

The Gunners have been going well in the Premier League this season, and whilst they’re currently outside of the top 4 – just 3 points separate them from 2nd place.

In typical Arsenal fashion, Wenger’s side have blown hot and cold at points this year – and whilst they are terrific when playing well, a few poor performances this season have proven to the Arsenal fans in the Tavern that a few upgrades are necessary.

Topping their list is a bit more defensive depth, and it would appear as though Arsene Wenger is in agreement.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Arsenal are keen on 23-year-old defender Sead Kolašinac – with Wenger seemingly on the lookout for a bit more strength on the flanks of his defensive line.

Kolašinac, a left-back by trade, is a quick, defensively-minded full-back – and he is particularly strong when tracking back and defending. A strong tackler, Kolašinac would provide Wenger with an added line of defence, and whilst Nacho Monreal is the current first-choice at the Emirates – that could certainly change with the arrival of Kolašinac.

Towards the end of 2016, Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs was linked (via the Sun) with a move away with the club – and the fact that Arsenal are linked with a potential replacement would certainly make sense.
