Imagine the pressure Unai Emery would be under if his side had failed to secure all three points at the Emirates yesterday. The Gunners put in an awful display against Stade Rennais in the Europa League last week, so fans will be hoping that their Premier League display is a sign of things to come.
Many fans will agree that reinforcements are needed as holes are starting to appear at the back and the Gunners have lacked a creative spark at times, so Emery will already be casting his eye towards the summer months.
What’s the news?
According to the Express, Arsenal will battle it out with North London rivals Spurs to sign Villarreal’s Pablo Fornals in the summer transfer window.
Although, the Gunners may need to axe Mesut Ozil before making something of their interest as the German’s high wages caused problems back in the January transfer window.
Arsenal fans will be pleased with what they’ve seen of Mesut Ozil on the field in recent times, but his consistency is always a worry. Indeed, it’s crazy to think that one of the Gunners’ most unreliable players is on such high wages, so he could be one of the first players to go in the summer if Emery can find a potential suitor.
Pablo Fornals could be a direct replacement for the German as they operate in exactly the same position and the Spaniard has been hugely impressive this season, having produced four goals and five assists.
Supporters will have very fond memories of Santi Cazorla’s time at the Emirates. And, Fornals may have learnt a lot from the former Arsenal man in recent years at Villarreal, so perhaps fans will warm to him relatively quickly.
Arsenal fans, would you like to see Fornals at the Emirates? Perhaps he can become the next Santi Cazorla…
