Arsenal keeping tabs on £52 million-rated striker as Wenger sends scouts to watch

The Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern would love to see a new number 9 at the Emirates…

Despite the capture of Lucas Perez, the Arsenal fans in the Tavern feel that their offensive depth is still lacking.

Olivier Giroud has had to carry the burden over the last few years, and his lack of form in recent weeks has raised some concern amongst the Arsenal fans in the Tavern.

Lucas Perez has made a decent start to life in London, but he will almost certainly need time to develop.

This has, seemingly, led Arsene Wenger back into the transfer market – with reports that the Frenchman is keen on another forward.

As per Portuguese outlet O Jogo, Arsenal reportedly sent scouts to watch Andre Silva in the Champions League as FC Porto faced off against Leicester last week.

Wenger is reportedly very keen on the Portuguese forward ahead of a potential move next year.

Whilst our landlord likes the look of Silva, there does appear to be one key deal breaker in any prospective transfer. Silva signed a new deal recently that came with a €60 million (£52 million) release clause  – and Porto are renowned in the Tavern as being very harsh negotiators.

The Arsenal fans in the Tavern share the same thought – they think it would be a huge risk to spend that much on a relatively unproven talent.

Silva differs from both Giroud and Perez in that he will likely be a long-term solution, given that he is just 20-years-old.

Whether this deal will come to pass remains to be seen, but Arsene Wenger is seemingly keen on the Portuguese under-21 international.

Take a look at Silva in action below…
