Unai Emery will know he will have a huge task in trying to replace Aaron Ramsey at the end of the season. With the Wales international star set to leave Arsenal for Juventus, trying to find a replacement is not something many managers will take pleasure in doing.
There is no doubt that Ramsey has been one of the Spaniard’s standout players and whilst it still remains absurd to allow him to go for nothing, it appears Emery may have already identified someone to fill the glaring hole his absence will leave.
What’s the News?
According to a report by Marca, Arsenal are believed to be keen on Eibar’s Joan Jordan and see the 24-year-old as the ideal man to fit straight into the team.
The midfielder has had a solid campaign for the La Liga outfit and could be available for as little as €15million (£12.8m) because of the release clause in his contract.
Jordan has been flying under the radar at Eibar this season, however, the way he plays and his performances this season could make him the ideal man to replace Ramsey in the summer, as he is somewhat similar to the Welshman.
Jordan likes to run with the ball at defences and is not scared of having a shot at goal when he sees fit, having hit three goals so far this season, whilst he is also rather creative and has an eye for a defence-splitting pass.
The Spaniard loves to take the ball from defence to attack and could provide the Gunners with some intensity and flair in the middle of the field – something that has been really lacking from the Emirates Stadium outfit.
The rather low release clause could also play into Arsenal and Emery’s hands as they are believed to be rather restricted when it comes to the amount of money they have available to spend and there will not be many better targets than Jordan for them to go after in that price bracket.
However, with still a number of months before the transfer window reopens, it would not be a surprise to hear plenty of other names be linked with a move to the Gunners, although it will be worth keeping an eye on Eibar’s star man for the time being.
