Arsenal are one of several clubs scouting Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen according to the latest reports arriving in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The news is being reported by Mail Online who suggest that Gunners representatives watched the 20-year-old as he scored an impressive hat-trick against NAC Breda on Saturday.
The youngster has now scored six goals in 10 games for the Amsterdam club this season and is already being tipped for surprise call up to the Holland squad ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
We have asked our Eredivisie expert to give us the lowdown on the Ajax starlet and he tells interested punters that while the Dutch sensation usually features in Ajax’s midfield, he is capable of playing further forward.
This has seen comparisons made about him with a young Dennis Bergkamp, something which has left Gunners in the bar even more enthused.
Ajax coach Frank de Boer said: “Davy is an attacking midfielder who can play centre forward. He’s definitely very talented. Moreover, he’s a smart.”
Klaassen joined Ajax at the age of 11, progressing through the ranks at the Dutch club before making his first team debut as a substitute in the Champions League clash with Lyon in November 2011.
He made his first appearance in the Eredivisie a few days later, scoring in the 3-0 win at NEC Nijmegen, but only featured a handful of times over the following 18 months.
However, Klaassen has started this campaign like a house on fire, which have seen attention on him and he continues to perform.
