There are some looks of disappointment as removal men arrive to take away the 72-inch plasma screen that has been keeping punters informed on the latest transfer activity in the Football Transfer Tavern.
As we clean up following the closure of the transfer window, it soon emerges that Newcastle forward Papiss Cisse was the target of a late loan move by both Arsenal and Cardiff.
The Gunners believed that the 28-year-old Senegalese international could have be available following the signing of Dutch striker Luuk De Jong earlier in the transfer window, with the player reportedly looking for a move away.
However it proved to be fruitless enquiry for both teams with the Magpies not interested in letting him leave on loan at this stage of the season.
Punters know that Arsene Wenger has been seeking a new centre-forward during the window, but Cisse has struggled for goals this term and would have been a disappointing signing in the eyes of Gunners punters in the bar.
Turkish sides Trabzonspor and Besiktas were also thought to be interested in the former Freiburg man, while there were reports earlier in the day that a mystery club from the Middle East were looking at Cisse.
But despite all of this interest Cisse remains at St James’ Park, and Magpies supporters will now hope to see a return to his previous form for the striker.
