Arsenal launch bid for Player of the Year, confident he’ll be first summer signing

HoldingArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are excited to hear that their club is making a move towards signing their first player of the summer, after reading the latest reports today.

The Sun says Arsenal have moved for Bolton Wanderer’s breakthrough defensive star Rob Holding, who landed the club’s Player of the Year award last week.

Holding has proven to be a bright spark in a disappointing campaign for Bolton, who have been relegated to League One, and the player was pulled from their squad to face Fulham on Saturday after Arsenal submitted an offer.

The 20-year-old is highly-rated and caretaker boss Jimmy Philips confirmed after the game that club directors instructed him to pull him from the squad, although the Trotters are yet to respond to the offer from the Gunners.

With AFC Bournemouth and Everton both also keen, Bolton hope a bidding war for the talented youngster will be sparked and that would give them a financial boost heading into their season in the third-tier of English football.

Any fee is likely to be a minimal amount for a Premier League side and the Arsenal fans definitely think he’s worth their interest.
