Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern have long been identifying the need for a new striker at the club but the latest report has the fans split, as they argue their point of view from either side of our pool table.
The Daily Mail claims Arsenal are leading the chase to sign Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge, who’s future at Anfield is in doubt as Jurgen Klopp becomes increasingly frustrated with the forward’s vast injury problems.
Sturridge has endured a mixed time on Merseyside since making the move from Chelsea in 2013, enjoying a fantastic season as Liverpool went close to winning the Premier League title, partnering Luis Suarez, but since then he’s failed to find consistency and regular fitness.
The England international is keen to leave Liverpool after having his fitness questioned and Arsene Wenger remains a big-fan of the forward, although his injury record will not go down well with Arsenal fans.
Arsenal have themselves endured vast troubles with injury problems in recent years and although Welbeck’s signature will likely come cheaper than other top-class forwards on the market, it’s a massive risk.
Our landlord believes Sturridge would be a great striker for Arsenal, so long as he stays fit, but with that looking unlikely, he’s adamant this is a bizarre move.
Arsenal fans, would you take Sturridge? Let us know in the comments below!
