We at Football Transfer Tavern believed Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini would join his former boss David Moyes at Manchester United this summer but The Times claim Arsenal are now at the front of the queue for the impressive midfield man.
Fellaini was immense again this season for the Toffees and has a rumoured £24 million buy out clause that the Gunners have already reportedly triggered.
United were the odds on favourites to snap up the Belgian powerhouse after David Moyes’ arrival but speculation that the Scot will take both Fellaini and Leighton Baines to Old Trafford has quietened down in recent weeks.
The Gunners know they have to spend big this summer in order to get back into the Premier League title race and signing a player of the calibre of Fellaini would certainly do them no harm.
Arsene Wenger rarely splashes big money on individuals but it is surely time to do so this summer to ensure a strong season next time round.
Will Fellaini become a Gunner next season? Rate this rumour below.
