Arsenal fans in Football Transfer Tavern are delighted to hear the news in the Daily Mail that they are favourites to sign Chelsea’s legendary keeper, Petr Cech.
It is believed that Chelsea’s second choice goalkeeper could be on his way to the Emirates for just £7m.
Arsene Wenger will face stiff competition for the Czech Republican as there is interest from across Europe, with AC Milan, Real Madrid and Roma all keeping tabs on the situation.
It is understood that the 32-year-old is desperately seeking first team football, having spent all of this season playing second fiddle to Thibaut Courtois.
But despite speculation linking him with a move away from the club his boss Jose Mourinho has said there have been no proposals for his keeper.
“On my desk, normally from my board’s desk the information arrives, I have zero. Zero proposals. At this moment, Petr Cech is our goalkeeper and has a contract for two more years,” Mourinho said.
“He’s a fantastic professional and puts the team’s interests first. Not once has Petr Cech knocked on my door to inform me of his desire to accept some proposal. This is my truth. Nothing more I can say.”
