Arsenal legend urges Gunners to sign ‘world-class’ midfielder

The Evening Standard reports that Arsenal legend Robert Pires has urged Southampton star Victor Wanyama to move to the Emirates Stadium, stating that he is ‘world-class material’.

Arsenal are in the market for midfield additions in the New Year after losing Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla to lengthy spells, which have left January signings as a necessity for the Gunners to land the Premier League title.

Now, speaking to journalists in Wanyama’s nation of Kenya, he revealed his dream of Arsenal landing the African star.

“I know Wanyama. He is a very good ambassador of Kenyan football and has done well in Southampton but I hope he signs for Arsenal in the future.”

“He has the speed, skill and physique. However, I think he needs to score more goals because then he will be world-class material.”

Arsenal fans believe 23-year-old Wanyama would be a welcome addition to the squad but believe any such deal would be more likely at the end of the season.
