Metro have a claim that Arsenal fans will not take too kindly to here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they note that the club have seen their bid for QPR’s Julio Cesar stall.
Arsenal have been considering a bid for the Brazilian keeper and have even been urged to make one by Harry Redknapp, the gaffer at Cesar’s current club, who claimed that the keeper was too talented to play in the Championship and now it seems that Arsenal may have to hold on a little longer for the player.
After seeing the move stall after the player himself went off on holiday and claimed that his future would not be resolved until he returns, the club have turned their attention to Newcastle United number one Tim Krul.
Wenger has long been a fan of Dutch international and would be interested in bringing him into the club – at the right price.
Krul made 24 appearances for the Magpies last term, and it is understood that Alan Pardew would be reluctant to let one of his star assets leave St. James’ Park. Wenger would have to pay at least £6 million for the player and convince Newcastle and Krul that a move was in everyone’s best interests.
