It’s a been a bit quiet of late in the Football Transfer Tavern although one notable exception has been Arsenal supporters who have been in good voice following their highly positive start to the season.
Now Sami Mokbel from Mail Online arrives in the bar to suggests that the Gunners are preparing a January bid for Feyenoord defender Bruno Martins Indi who has also been targeted by Everton.
The Netherlands international centre back is reportedly on Arsene Wenger’s radar as he looks to add strength in depth to his current defence who have struggled with injuries in recent times.
Feyenoord are looking for around £8 million for the 21-year-old and Everton were planning to make a summer move for the versatile defender.
Former Gunners star Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who now works as a coach at Feyenoord, said: “He is very good and strong. It is not for nothing he’s a first-choice here and with the Dutch national team. He will make the move to a foreign club in the long term.
“When the time comes and he wants to leave, he will leave the club. We are very happy with him, but we know we cannot compete with the top European clubs.”
Meanwhile, news has filtered through that Gunners misfit Park Chu-Young could move to Wigan Athletic on loan. The South Korean must go down as one of Wenger’s worst ever signings and he has only featured in six matches for the Gunners since signing in 2011.
Latics boss Owen Coyle is looking to add the frontman to his squad – something that Arsenal fans in the tavern are delighted to hear.
