Arsenal line-up Premier League boss as Wenger successor this summer

koemannnnnArsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are debating the club’s long-term managerial prospects, after their drinks were interrupted by reports of a managerial shift.

The Daily Star indicate that Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has been lined-up as a potential successor to Arsene Wenger, who’s long-term association with the Gunners is drawing to a close.

Wenger marks 20-years in charge of Arsenal this summer and despite the fact his contract runs until the summer of 2017, the board believe he could step down early should the Gunners land the Premier League title this season.

Arsenal are currently five points behind Leicester City, who they play this weekend, in an incredibly tight race for the title, an honour which the Gunners have not lifted since going the season unbeaten 12 years ago.

Should Wenger step down, the next manager for the Gunners will have incredibly big shoes to fill but Arsenal have seen similarities between their current French boss and Saints manager Koeman.

Koeman has won three league titles in his managerial career and it’s understood he wants a top job in England, having led Southampton admirably during his tenure on the South Coast.

Arsenal fans, would Koeman be a good managerial successor to Wenger? Let us know in the comments below!
