There is drama here in the Football Transfer Tavern today as it has been claimed by the Daily Mirror that Arsene Wenger is set to launch a dramatic treble swoop on the Bundesliga this summer.
The manager is after both Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski of Borussia Dortumnd and also Lars Bender who currently plays for Bayer Leverkusen. To land any of these highly coveted players Wenger will not only have to spend a serious amount of money but also fight off a whole heap of competition, especially for Lewandowski who is one of the most wanted players in football at the minute and is rated at around £25 million.
Landing the Polish international would be a huge coup for Wenger and should he beat off competition from not only Bayern Munich but also Manchester United, that would be massive step forward for the club.
Wenger of course has steered Arsenal firmly back into the race for a top four spot and after seeing Chelsea struggle yet again is confident of getting back into the Champions League once again. Not only is Wenger after the immensely talented Bundesliga trio but he is also weighing up a move for Lyon’s Maxime Gonalons who at 24-years-old and available for around £8.5 million would represent a good buy for the club.
