Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are counting down the days until the end of what’s been a disappointing season and one piece of gossip has certainly lifted the spirits of the lads by the bar.
The Daily Star says Arsenal are plotting a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s record goal-scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is available on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the season.
Swedish sensation Ibrahimovic, now 34-years-old, has starred in Holland, Spain, Italy and France during his career but has never played in the Premier League, although that seems likely to change this summer with a host of English clubs vying for his signature.
Manchester United are heavily interested in the veteran striker but Ibrahimovic himself is likely to want to play Champions League football, which the Red Devils cannot guarantee, as he’s remarkably never lifted Europe’s prestige trophy.
Whilst Arsenal themselves have not guaranteed themselves a spot in the Champions League next season, the Gunners have fate in their own hands and need seven points from their final three games to assure themselves of a top-four spot, although that number will be less if Manchester United slip-up in any of their remaining matches.
