The Daily Mirror have Arsenal fans looking rather confused here in the Football Transfer Tavern.
The publication seem to think that the Gunners are targeting Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck this summer after losing patience with Olivier Giroud.
The Gunners’ current front man Giroud has been linked with a move away from the club a fair few times since the turn of the year and the majority of fans here in the tavern would not be too sorry to see him go.
One thing that they do seem to be fairly against however would be the purchase of Welbeck, who is certainly not a tavern favourite.
As one of our punters notes over a pint, when Arsene Wenger is given £70 million to spend this summer, we expect a world class forward to be brought in – not a Manchester United back-up option.
Arsenal are again facing a season without a title, although they could well win the FA Cup to stop the rot, yet to attract top players, Wenger and his men need to be challenging far more for titles than they currently are. As our landlord reminds us, a season does not end in February.
Do you think Welbeck would be a good buy for Arsenal or is he just an average player? Let us know your thoughts below.
